When was the club started – The club was started back in1997.
Who started it – Rod Prior, Keith Cameron, Rob Wratten and Charlie Saunders.
Who was the first president and current – Keith Cameron was the clubs first president and stayed there until 2001. Athol Page is the current president and has been since 2002.
How many members did it first have – It was around 20 or less.
How many members does it have now – The club has grown over the years and now has 100 members with 7 Juniors and 9 Ladies.
What are you doing to encourage new membership – The club puts a great shoot on every month with shoot fees kept low, membership cost is kept low, we are a very friendly crew and everything runs fairly smoothly.
What facilities does the range have – The range has storage sheds and containers, clubhouse which is an old shearing shed, hot and cold running water, toilets and showers, eating area and a canteen.
What disciplines are shot at your club – Our club only shoots Sporting clays.
Are there any additions proposed for your club – We have recently completed constructions for a storage area for our traps and clays. An eating area was constructed not that long ago. We are always thinking up new ideas for our club.
What major event does your club hold – Our club has an annual 2day event every April which attracts 180+ shooters each day. We also have an annual one day Charity shoot in September which about 100 shooters come to that.
Is the club involved in any community service – We have a Charity shoot once a year which we hold for local organisations. Over the last few years it has been – Cancer Council, Westpac Helicopter Service, Childrens Medical Research, Quirindi Retirement Homes, Youth Insearch Tamworth and this year Legacy.
Do any groups use the facility – A group of horse riders riding for charity used our grounds as a stopover and just recently the gun dog trail organisation used our grounds over the weekend to camp at, which they would like to do every year.
What is special about this club – Our club has an excellent working committee, we all pull together. We only have one discipline which is real good, there is a very friendly atmosphere about the club and the area is very scenic.
Is there anything else you would like to share about this club – We have club shoots every 4th Sunday of the month which usually attracts about 50 local and also out of town people. We keep the nom fees low which encourages the shooters to come and have some fun. Shooting is a very expensive game.
