Welcome to the Wagga Wagga branch of the Sporting Shooters Association of Australia (SSAA NSW Wagga Wagga Branch). Established in 1988, this sports club in Wagga Wagga has grown to cater to the needs of over 1000 members. Whether you're a visitor or someone interested in trying out shooting sports, you are always welcome at our facility.
Our clubhouse, equipped with solar power, toilets, and showers, serves as a hub for socialising and gathering. In terms of shooting ranges, we offer a 20-position benchrest range that extends up to 500 metres, an 8-position field rifle and pistol range that reaches up to 200 metres, an 8-position rimfire metallic silhouette range, and a 5-stand shotgun range.
Regular competitions are held in various disciplines, including Shotgun, Black powder, Rimfire and Centrefire Field Rifle, Military Rifle, Rimfire Metallic Silhouette, Lever Action, Benchrest, Fly out to 500 metres, and Pistol. We hold two major two-day competitions each year, along with club competition shoots taking place most Sundays and some Saturdays.
While some of our target shooters participate in major competitions, the majority of our members join the club competitions using their hunting rifles. For this reason, we have structured our club competitions to ensure that hunting rifles are competitive.
The range fees for our SSAA NSW Wagga Wagga Branch are as follows (effective from 01/07/22): Adult Members $20. 00, Juniors $10. 00, Pensioner/Gold card $10. 00, Visitors/Non-members $25.
00, Shotgun $30. 00 (no discounts).
Please note that the range is closed on public holidays and long weekends. However, during regular hours, the range is open to casual shooters and visitors on Saturdays from 13:00 to 16:00, Sundays from 09:00 to 16:00, and Wednesdays from 13:00 to 16:00.
For those interested in obtaining a shooter's licence, you can find more details on our website.
Additionally, the club organises special events like the Night Fly competition. This year, the format has been changed to encourage more shooters to participate using paddock spotlighting and hunting rifles. Dates for the upcoming Night Fly competitions include Friday 1 December 2023 (Centrefire), Friday 15th December 2023 (Rimfire), Friday 5th January 2024 (Centrefire), and Friday 19th January 2024 (Rimfire). If shotgun shooting is your interest, our shotgun range features a 5-stand layout set in a bushland setting. We have recently acquired a new tower trap house with 2 traps for releasing clays at various angles, adding excitement to the competition. Shotgun competitions typically take place on the first Saturday of the month from February till November, with 50 targets to be shot.
New shooters are always welcome to join our club and participate in the various shooting disciplines and competitions we offer. Come and experience the camaraderie and skill-building opportunities that await you at the SSAA NSW Wagga Wagga Branch. Keep an eye on our social media pages and club directories for updates and upcoming events!
