It’s SAFE because everyone involved with the sport takes the safety of all participants seriously. In fact, shooting is one of the safest sports around! We, as law-abiding firearms owners, are regulated by some of the strictest gun laws, not only in Australia but worldwide.
It’s FUN because it’s a sport that allows anyone (over 11 of course) to participate on a level playing field; that makes it a great family sport. The shooting sports also offer a large variety of different disciplines that are challenging in many ways and also encourage a strong sense of camaraderie amongst competitors.
And it’s UNIQUE because it’s one of the oldest Olympic sports and is a sport that you can enjoy in a group or as an individual. It doesn’t require a shooter to be the fittest, or the fastest or the tallest – everyone is welcome to participate. However, it does require skill, accuracy, and consistency which makes for a very challenging sport.
The SSAA can help new shooters get involved in one of Australia's most challenging and exciting sports. Staff at our shooting range can help you through the membership process and conduct safety training to help you qualify for a firearms licence. Once you have been issued with your licence you are on the road to a pleasurable and rewarding sport.
