Welcome to Saints Netball Club - Maroubra Bay, located in Sydney, New South Wales. Our club is home to many talented netball players and passionate netball lovers. We prioritise fair play, good sportsmanship, and high-quality competition within our close-knit community.
Our teams compete in the Randwick Netball Association Competition from April to September, playing at the Heffron Netball Courts in Maroubra. We value the spirit of teamwork and collaboration with our families, as we continuously evolve and adapt to meet the changing needs of the competition. Our goal is to provide structured support and foster positive relationships, ensuring that our players, umpires, coaches, managers, and supporters have a safe and enjoyable experience.
Training for our teams takes place after school at Heffron Park from April to September. Specific training times are determined in consultation with our coaches and teams. Our weekly games are hosted at Heffron Park on Saturdays, where our players can showcase their skills and compete against other teams.
Saints Netball Club was founded in 1988 by a group of local mothers from St. Mary St. Joseph Primary School in Maroubra Bay. The mothers not only wanted their daughters to play netball but were also keen to participate themselves.
Cathy Cairns served as the founding secretary of the club. In its inaugural year, the club entered two junior teams and one senior team, with players sporting pink shirts and bottle-green skirts resembling watermelons.
From its humble beginnings, Saints Netball Club has grown to include players from various schools in the local and broader Eastern Suburbs communities. We have become known for nurturing top netball talents and promoting fair play, good sportsmanship, and quality competition. In 1997, the club introduced the Spirit of Saints trophy, awarded annually to a player or team that has displayed exceptional courage and determination throughout the year.
Over the years, many Saints players have been selected to represent the Randwick Netball Association and have achieved notable success. Gabi Simpson, a former A Grade player with the club, was selected to represent New South Wales in the 17's team and earned a spot in the Australian 17's squad.
In 2021, our club boasts over 20 teams, reflecting our continuous growth and thriving netball community. We eagerly anticipate developing more shining stars in the coming years and warmly welcome new players to join our club.
