School of Freestyle Martial Arts

Perth's “School of Freestyle Martial Arts” is a highly regarded sports club located on Government Road in Nedlands. The school, operating since 2001, offers a wide range of martial arts classes for both kids and adults. Conveniently situated behind Karrakatta cemetery, there is plenty of parking available for students.

The sense of community within the Dojo is evident, as many of the founding students have progressed from Little Dragons to Black Belt and now assist as instructors in various classes. This highlights the strong bond and support system that has been fostered within the club.

Shihan Glen Phillips, the owner and chief instructor at School of Freestyle Martial Arts, is a highly experienced and dedicated martial artist. He began his training in 1998 and has since been awarded titles such as Zen Do Kai Black Belt of the Year in 2001 and Zen Do Kai Instructor of the year in 2006. Shihan Glen holds the current rank of 4th Dan Black Belt in Zen Do Kai and is also a registered trainer in Muay Thai, Kickboxing, Mixed Martial Arts, and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.

Not only does School of Freestyle Martial Arts offer a comprehensive curriculum in various martial arts disciplines, they also provide additional qualifications for those interested in competitive fighting. Shihan Glen is a competitive fighter himself and is registered with the WA Sports Commission as a trainer in Muay Thai, Kickboxing, Mixed Martial Arts, and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. He is also a qualified Karate and Kickboxing instructor with the World Karate Association and the World Kickboxing Association.
