SWDRA has a long history of target rifle shooting in the South West, with clubs like Bunbury operating continuously since 1877. Membership in the club offers active participation in a rifle club where firearm owners have a safe and convenient venue to pursue their sport. Members have the opportunity to shoot individually or in teams and can progress from club and district representation to State and National teams. Full Bore Target Rifle Shooting is also a recognised Commonwealth Games sport.
Target rifle shooting is a sport for all, enjoyed by both men and women starting from the age of 14 and welcoming participants in their eighties. It is an excellent family sport and even people with physical disabilities can compete on an equal footing. Competitions are open and conducted under a divisional system to ensure that everyone can compete.
Visitors are always welcome at SWDRA. The club offers club rifles for visitors who would like to try the sport of long-range target rifle shooting, with one-on-one supervision provided. It is advised to inform the club at least one week prior to your visit to ensure preparations are made for your shoot.
SWDRA is located at Coolilup, which serves as the headquarters range for the association. Busselton-Bunbury Rifle Club shoots on this range and enjoys the use of the SWDRA Headquarters Clubhouse. The range has electronic targets over distances of 300m-900m and also has 1000yd benches.
