Southern Vales Dressage Club

Southern Vales Dressage Club is a non-profit sports club located in the City of Onkaparinga, specifically at 185 Bowering Hills Road in Aldinga. The club organises monthly competitions that cater to dressage enthusiasts of all skill levels. From beginners to seasoned professionals and Grand Prix riders, all members are welcome to participate. In addition to the regular competitions, the club also hosts Championship events, critique days, and clinics.

One unique aspect of the Southern Vales Dressage Club is that it not only welcomes riders but also encourages non-riders to get involved. Helpers are always needed at events to assist with the various tasks involved in running a competition, providing a fantastic opportunity for individuals interested in dressage but do not own or ride horses to still be a part of the club.

The club's facilities are located at the Aldinga Sports Park, which has recently undergone upgrades. The grounds are typically open on the second Saturday of each month from 9 am to midday, although it is recommended to contact the club to confirm open days and inquire about any questions regarding the schedule.

Southern Vales Dressage Club offers a variety of competitions throughout the year. For competitive riders, there are six competitions held annually, including events for Young Horses, FEI levels, and Para Equestrians. These competitions feature two tests in each level, ranging from Preliminary to FEI.

Additionally, the club organises five Closed Unrestricted Competitions each year. These include a Critique Day and a Championship event. Unlike the competitive competitions, these events offer an opportunity to compete “unofficially,” without points being awarded. They are especially beneficial for newcomers to dressage or those looking to practise their tests before entering a competitive competition.
