Sunshine Coast Rowing Club

For the Learn to Row programme is $150 and covers 6 sessions. These sessions are typically held on consecutive Saturdays.

The Sunshine Coast Rowing Club, located on Chambers Island in Maroochydore, offers an opportunity for men and women over 27 years old to enjoy rowing in sculls or crews on the picturesque Maroochy River. The club provides boats, beginner training, and coaching for its members.

Recreational rowing is available almost every day of the year, allowing rowers to develop their skills and fitness. As rowers' abilities progress, they have the exciting opportunity to compete in regular regattas against other rowing clubs in Queensland.

The club is grateful for the support it receives from the Sunshine Coast Council Grants Programme, which has provided funds for important equipment to support its members. The club also acknowledges the support of its patron, Cr. Jason O’Pray.

Membership at the Sunshine Coast Rowing Club requires completing and submitting an application form and paying the designated membership and insurance fees. Once a member completes a Learn-to-Row course, they can continue rowing with the club by simply informing the treasurer.

To ensure the safety and adherence to standards, all members are expected to familiarise themselves with the club's safety code, club rules, and registration fees. The club provides information on its website regarding these significant guidelines.

The club normally runs two Learn to Row courses each year from its clubhouse on Chambers Island. However, due to high membership numbers and limited facilities, the club has temporarily suspended the Learn to Row sessions. The committee periodically reviews this decision and will notify members when the sessions can resume.

The Learn to Row sessions typically take place on Chambers Island, with participants asked to arrive at the club by 7:00 am for orderly planning of the sessions. These sessions usually last over an hour on the water, followed by boat cleaning, and conclude around 9:00 am. The fee for the Learn to Row programme is $150, covering six sessions.
