Waroona Amateur Basketball Association Inc. , also known as the Waroona Redbacks, is a sports club located in the Shire of Waroona, Western Australia. The club's main objective is to establish itself as an innovative, highly respected, financially stable, and self-supporting organisation.
The Waroona Redbacks basketball programme focuses on developing teamwork, good sportsmanship, skill development, competition, and a strong work ethic among the youth in the association. By fostering and nurturing junior members, the club aims to solidify its senior competition as a benchmark in the region.
The club believes in the motto “BELIEVE & ACHIEVE” and strives to instil this belief in all its members.
To stay connected with its members and keep them informed, the Waroona Basketball Association publishes a newsletter and maintains an active presence on social media, particularly Facebook. The club's website, designed and SEO-optimised by Templeman Twells Web Design, provides valuable resources, information on upcoming events, and an online registration form.
The association hosts various events throughout the year, including the BWA Country Championships, where teams from different regions compete for the championship title. The club also organises regular competitions for both juniors and seniors.
Waroona Amateur Basketball Association has a rich history and prides itself in being a part of the local community. It continues to build on this legacy and create a positive impact in the lives of its members, both on and off the basketball court.
To be a part of the association, juniors wishing to play basketball must submit a nomination form and pay the BWA affiliation fee. Age groups will be determined based on the received nominations, with games typically played on Wednesday nights. The season commences during the first week of term 4.
For seniors, a nomination form must be submitted, along with a team nomination form if participating as a team. Players must be aged 14 years or above, with at least one player under 20 years to encourage a smooth transition from the junior competition. Senior games are also played on Wednesday nights, starting around 6pm.
Fees for juniors cover the BWA affiliation fee, which is paid directly to Basketball Western Australia, and an association affiliation fee. These fees are essential for insurance purposes and ensuring the smooth operation of the club.
Waroona Amateur Basketball Association is committed to providing a positive and inclusive environment where individuals can develop their basketball skills, forge lifelong friendships, and foster a sense of community.
