Known as Adaptive Rowing, this inclusive activity warmly embraces individuals with physical disabilities, sensory impairments, or learning impairments. In fact, back in 2017, Maidenhead Rowing Club established an Adaptive squad specifically designed to cater to these rowers within the club's catchment area.
Not only does Maidenhead Rowing Club support its own adaptive rowing community, but it also graciously welcomes adaptive rowers from other clubs during various events. Thanks to the generous support of the Shanly Foundation and the Peter Harrison Foundation, the club has been able to acquire two dedicated adaptive boats, ensuring that the squad has the necessary equipment to thrive.
Training sessions for adaptive rowing take place on Wednesday evenings and Saturday afternoons, enabling individuals to fit this thrilling sport into their schedules. The squad actively competes in a range of events within the Thames Region reaching all the way to the Midlands. Additionally, fans of adaptive rowing will be thrilled to learn that the club organises a series of truly incredible adaptive events during their annual summer regatta.
