Art Chi - Lvis is a Tai chi school located in St-Romuald, offering classes in Tai Chi and Qi Gong following the Stvanovitch method. The school welcomes beginners who wish to learn how to perceive Chi with their hands and connect to their energetic centre, the Tantien. Students will learn how to relax their bodies to allow Chi to flow more freely, practising 11 Chinese health exercises (Qi Gong) to improve their breathing, flexibility, and sensitivity to Chi in their hands.
Intermediate students at Art Chi - Lvis will focus on mobilizing Chi within the body, deepening their internal awareness as their attention sharpens, their minds become more tranquil, and Chi flows more freely. Students will be introduced to Tai Chi by learning the 24 form, a series of stylized combat movements that combine stillness and movement.
Advanced and very advanced students will have the opportunity to explore advanced Chi techniques and discover hidden inner resources. They will have the chance to learn the rare 127 postures in addition to the 108 postures, and practice Tai Ji Quan for enjoyment and personal wellness.
At the core of the school's teachings is the belief that everyone can perceive Chi and learn to mobilize and direct it within their bodies for improved health and well-being. The Tantien, located in the abdomen and coinciding with the body's centre of gravity, is the central point for working with Chi. By focusing on precise muscular work, students can physically feel and utilize their Tantien to influence Chi throughout their bodies.
Breath is considered a vital component at Art Chi - Lvis, transforming air into a beneficial internal massage when combined with Tantien work. Hand sensitivity is also emphasized, with flexibility and relaxation throughout the arm and neck contributing to heightened Chi perception. Daily practice of self-massage and Chinese health exercises can help hands regain their full sensitivity.
The school offers classes and workshops following the Mthode Stvanovitch at the Pierre Boogaerts Centre and near local communities. The teaching approach is progressive, covering a range of Chi mobilization techniques from the Small to the Grand circulation, Chi in medicine, and Chi-carrying sounds. Three forms of Tai Chi from the Yang family are taught, including the 24, 108, and 127 postures, all of which promote well-being through regular practice. The Tao de Gong Fu is introduced after several years of practice, with Kirikido not taught independently from the other forms.
Art Chi - Lvis welcomes students of all levels to join weekly classes and workshops to explore the benefits of Tai Chi and Qi Gong for their health and vitality.
