Therapy (EXA) is a form of therapy that encourages new learning and opportunities through the use of the arts. At Bee True Yoga Studio in Nanaimo, led by Master Therapeutic Counsellor and Registered Expressive Arts Therapist Danielle Dickson, individuals can explore their inner thoughts, feelings, and experiences through various art forms in a process-based and supportive environment free from judgment.
Danielle's personal journey and connection to nature deeply influence her work as an artist. With a Bachelor of Fine Arts from UBC Okanagan, she creates original artwork inspired by the natural world, life cycles, dreams, and the passage of time itself. Through imagery and medium, she creates dreamscapes that speak to the beauty and spirit of nature, inviting viewers to engage with the energy of life from a place of deep curiosity.
Born in Yellowknife, NT, Danielle's love for the outdoors and nature began at a young age, spending winters watching the northern lights and summers swimming in lakes. Moving to British Columbia as a young adult, she continued to deepen her connection to nature through exploring old growth forests, hiking mountains, and immersing herself in the beauty of Vancouver Island. Her journey has led her to create a sweet home studio space in Nanaimo where she focuses on painting, drawing, and digital art.
At Bee True Yoga Studio, Danielle invites individuals to explore Expressive Arts Therapy as a bridge between the conscious and unconscious mind, allowing for self-expression and reflection through images and symbols. Through the intentional space she holds for others, she aims to bring light to areas of therapy that may be blocked or inhibited, providing a safe and supportive environment for personal exploration and growth.
Thank you for being here and for exploring the world of Expressive Arts Therapy at Bee True Yoga Studio in Nanaimo. Danielle Dickson looks forward to guiding you on your journey of self-discovery and growth through the transformative power of art.
