Beginner's Course with Muckamore Company of Archers

The Muckamore Company of Archers warmly invites individuals interested in learning archery to take part in their Beginner's Course. Unfortunately, due to COVID-19 restrictions, the upcoming course date has not yet been set. If you were unable to complete the course before the lockdown, we encourage you to get in touch with the club for updates.

This course is specifically designed for those who have already tried a “Have a Go” session or have a basic understanding of archery and are eager to progress further. The Beginner's Course consists of six weekly sessions, taking place one evening per week, with each session lasting for two hours.

To make things even more convenient, the club will provide all the necessary equipment for participants. So there's no need to rush into purchasing any archery gear until after the course, when you've had a chance to consult with our experienced coaches.

Participants are encouraged to wear comfortable, close-fitting clothing during the course. Our indoor clubhouse offers protection from the unpredictable British weather, but in colder conditions, it's best to layer up with multiple thin garments rather than bulky clothing. We kindly request that jumpers or jackets with baggy sleeves be avoided, as they may interfere with the bow string.

For those looking to give the gift of archery, we have gift vouchers available for purchase. These vouchers can be used for both “Have a Go” sessions and Beginner's Courses, providing flexibility for your friends or loved ones.

Our indoor shooting facility is located at Burnside Barn on Moyra Road in Burnside, Ballyclare. If you prefer outdoor shooting, we also have designated days at the Ballyclare Rugby Football Club on Cloughan, Doagh Road in Ballyclare. Our main shooting times at the indoor venue are Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 7pm to 9pm. Outdoor shooting at the Ballyclare Rugby Club is available on Thursdays and Fridays, running from May to mid-September, depending on weather and lighting conditions. Please be aware that Thursdays are exclusively reserved for Longbow shooting.
