Welcome to Bishop Road Badminton Club, a small and friendly club located in Bishopston, New Zealand. The club was formed in the 1950s at Bishop Road School, which inspired its name. Bishop Road Badminton Club is run on a voluntary basis and warmly welcomes new players.
Club play takes place from September to the end of March, and our club nights are held on Thursday evenings at St Ursulas E-Act Academy from 8pm to 10pm. We have court capacity to accommodate visitors and new members, including players from other clubs who do not have access to a venue. If you are interested in joining, please book your visit in advance through someone listed on our contacts page.
While we are currently seeking new members for the 23/24 season, we regret to inform beginners and novices that we are unable to accept them at this time. However, we do have a men's team that competes in the Bristol league, showcasing our passion for competitive badminton.
Membership at Bishop Road Badminton Club consists of a one-time payment at the beginning of the season. For employed members, the fee is 145, while unemployed individuals and students pay 96. Additionally, Badminton England (15. 00) and Avon BA Affiliation (6.
70) fees are added, making the total come to 21. 70. These fees contribute to the smooth functioning and development of our club.
We have two main locations for our club nights and matches. St Ursula's School, located at Brecon Road in Westbury-on-Trym, is where we hold our Thursday club nights and matches. Additionally, Shaftesbury Rugby Club on Frenchay Park Road in Bristol is the venue for Monday matches.
Bishop Road Badminton Club is managed by a dedicated team of volunteers who serve as officers. If you have any inquiries or need more information, please feel free to approach them during club nights or contact them directly. Our club secretary, Daniel Hucker, can be reached at 07779 887 710, while our treasurer/webmaster, Dave Cierocki, can be contacted at 07955 088 400. Colin Palmer, our fixtures secretary, can be reached at 0117 9621387.
Visitors are more than welcome to join us for a maximum of three club nights before deciding to become a member. Club officials need to assess a visitor's playing standard to determine their suitability for the club. There is a 5 visitors fee per visit, which will be fully or partly refunded depending on your membership payment method should you choose to join. To ensure easy access to our venue, please remember to book your visit through someone listed on our contacts page.
For more information about our fees and club locations, please check the corresponding sections on our website.
