Individual needs and can focus on any aspect of Body Mind & Movement practise. These sessions provide a more personalised approach, allowing for specific guidance and feedback tailored to the unique goals and abilities of the individual or group.
Alan Skirving, the founder of Body Mind & Movement, brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to his teaching. With over 25 years of training in Tai Chi & Internal Martial Arts, Qigong, Yoga, Meditation, Psychology, and complementary practises, Alan is dedicated to sharing his expertise with others.
Alan's classes and workshops are known for their relaxing, energising, and fun atmosphere. The sessions incorporate both physical practises and theoretical explanations, providing a well-rounded understanding of body postures and movements. Unlike other classes where students only imitate the teacher's movements, Alan emphasises the importance of the theoretical aspect to maximise the benefits of the practise.
As a mindful, knowledgeable, and patient teacher, Alan ensures that his students have a comprehensive learning experience. He draws upon an eclectic and holistic range of sources, allowing for a deep exploration of the principles and qualities behind traditional forms and exercises. This approach creates an evolving process that fosters personal growth and development.
One of the offerings from Body Mind & Movement is the Tai Chi & Qigong Foundation Course. This 12-week course is suitable for beginners or individuals with some experience looking to delve deeper into their practise. The course covers foundation concepts and exercises, Qigong practises and sequences, the Tai Chi 37 Form, simplified Yang Style Tai Chi, Tai Chi partner practise, and additional workshops on Bagua Basics, Yoga, and Meditation. Students can expect a structured and progressive learning experience that includes weekly in-person classes, recorded online classes, themed weekend workshops, and detailed supplementary notes.
In addition to the foundation course, Alan also offers drop-in classes, regular classes for more experienced practitioners, weekend workshops, retreats, and 1-to-1 sessions. These opportunities provide students with flexibility and a chance to explore and deepen their practise in a variety of settings and formats.
Whether you are a beginner looking to start your journey or an experienced practitioner seeking to expand your knowledge, Body Mind & Movement with Alan Skirving offers a welcoming and supportive environment where you can explore the transformative power of Tai Chi, Internal Martial Arts, Qigong, Yoga, and Meditation.
