About

Welcome to Caithness Cycling Club, a well-established club that has been serving the cycling community since 1963. Based in Thurso, on the North coast of Scotland, the club boasts a membership of around 35 to 40 cycling enthusiasts who participate in various aspects of the sport.

Caithness Cycling Club organises regular events and activities for its members. These include time trials, hill climbs, club runs, and interclub races. The club publishes a diary that provides details of upcoming events and is accessible through their Google Diary or via email distribution.

One of the club's signature events is the annual Thurso to Wick Interclub race, which takes place in June. Cyclists gather at the Thurso Cemetery for the 10-mile time trial, with the first competitor starting at 7pm. The race finishes just before the 30mph speed limit in Wick. The club also participates in CTT Open Racing Weekends, where members have the opportunity to compete in various races organised by Cycling Time Trials.

Membership in Caithness Cycling Club comes with certain standards and responsibilities. Members are expected to adhere to the club's constitution and code of conduct, ensuring a safe and inclusive environment for all. The club also provides resources and information on bike setup, cycling tips, and more to help members improve their skills and knowledge.

The club has a dedicated committee comprising individuals who oversee different aspects of club operations. Andrew MacLeod, known as Hamper, serves as the Chairman, while Malcolm Grey serves as Vice Chairman. Roger Broughton is the Secretary, and Martine Hughes ensures the club's finances as the Treasurer. Al Washington takes care of press relations, and John Falconer handles membership.

Phil Cartwright is responsible for MTB affairs.

For those interested in joining Caithness Cycling Club, membership inquiries can be directed to the Membership Secretary, John Falconer. The club's contact details, including addresses and email addresses, can be found on the club's website.

As the most northerly cycling club on mainland UK, Caithness Cycling Club offers a welcoming and supportive community for both experienced cyclists and beginners alike. So, whether you're looking to challenge yourself in races or simply enjoy leisurely club runs, Caithness Cycling Club has something for everyone.
