Climb Hitchin

Jamie, the organiser of Climb Hitchin, has put together a note for the sports community:

Climb Hitchin, a community interest company in Hitchin, focuses on promoting and supporting rock climbing, both indoors and outdoors. Operating out of the climbing wall at the Priory School, spaces are limited per session, so bookings are a must via their website.

The climbing wall is in the school’s sports hall, on the left as you face the building. It caters to climbers of all levels. Beginners can enjoy top/bottom rope climbing and get instruction, while newcomers can try taster sessions starting from age 5. For those aged 7 and above, Climb Hitchin offers NICAS levels 1, 2, and 3.

Experienced climbers are covered too, with lead climbing sessions and instruction on how to improve leadership skills for those aged 18 and over. There’s also coaching in movement and technique, both in group settings and one-on-one. Climb Hitchin regularly organises outdoor days focusing on top-roping, sport climbing, and traditional climbing.

If something’s not available to book online, you can reach out to Climb Hitchin via phone or email. They also work with Walk Climb Summit, which offers bespoke options like outdoor days, parties, and coaching.

To keep up with what’s happening, join the Climb Hitchin Facebook group and page for updates. First-time climbers need to fill out a new climber registration form, and for those under 18, use the under 18 form. You don’t need a response before your first session, just save the confirmation email.

Climb Hitchin CIC is a registered Community Interest Company in England and Wales, and you can find them at 18, The Lagger, Chalfont St. Giles, Bucks, HP8 4DG.

Their opening hours are Monday and Thursday from 19:00 – 22:00. They’re closed on other days.
