About
Desborough Sailing Club, led by Commodore Mike Daly, invites sports enthusiasts to get involved in a vibrant community right on the banks of the Thames in Shepperton. Ideal for both dinghy sailors and sailing cruisers, the club offers plenty of activities the whole family can enjoy.
Not just about sailing, Desborough encourages members to bring along their canoes, kayaks, and paddleboards to make the most of the serene river atmosphere. They even welcome picnics and barbecues, making it a great spot for family days out.
Throughout the year, the club runs regular racing events on Sundays from March to December, Saturdays from March to October, and Wednesday evenings when the light allows. Sailing on Shepperton Reach, a clear stretch between Shepperton Lock and Walton Bridge, offers smooth and thrilling experiences on the water.
With modern amenities, including changing rooms, showers, and a well-stocked bar in the clubhouse, members are assured of a comfortable visit. The dinghy park can accommodate up to 180 boats, and gentle slipways ensure easy launching and recovery.
Desborough Sailing Club also hosts a variety of events like regattas and open meetings, specifically for British Moth, National 12, and Handicap fleets. They encourage leisure sailing and keep slipway access open at all times.
