Just a quick note from James, the organiser at DEVA Canoe Club, to the sports community.
Since its start, DEVA Canoe Club has been all about creating a friendly and inclusive place for paddlers in Chester. James, along with a dedicated team of volunteers, aims to bring people together for fun trips and to promote kayaking, canoeing, and paddleboarding.
DEVA is part of British Canoeing (81596) and offers loads of activities throughout the year. There’s a weekly club night paddle on the River Dee, pool sessions at Northgate Arena, and various excursions. The focus is on having a good time - no competitive events here.
Whether you’re a beginner or a pro, DEVA Canoe Club is open to all skill levels. If you’re under 18, you can join the Chester Riverside Canoe Club and maybe move on to DEVA as you get older.
The club cares about keeping the waterways in good nick and encourages members to follow the paddlers' code. By sticking to these guidelines, DEVA aims to help preserve nature and the environment for the future.
James ensures that communication is strong with all members via email and Facebook, keeping everyone updated on activities and events. With more than 200 members, including seasoned coaches, new paddlers get plenty of support and guidance.
For anyone keen to join or learn more, the club's website has all the info you need. James also encourages you to get in touch if you have any questions or want to chat.
Membership fees are straightforward - £15 annually, plus an additional £5 for each family member. This covers admin costs, British Canoeing Union affiliation, equipment, and courses. The club year is from April 1st to March 31st.
Overall, James and the team at DEVA Canoe Club are dedicated to delivering enjoyable and safe paddling experiences. Whether you’re new to the sport or a seasoned paddler, DEVA offers a friendly community where you can share your love for canoeing, kayaking, and paddleboarding in Chester’s beautiful waterways.
