Donna Negus Yoga is a well-established yoga studio located in Romford, offering a diverse range of yoga classes, workshops, and retreats. Founded by Donna Negus, an experienced and dedicated yoga instructor, the studio aims to provide a welcoming and inclusive space for individuals of all ages and abilities to explore and deepen their practise.
At Donna Negus Yoga, attention and care are deeply ingrained in the practise. The studio believes in bringing attention to the way we truly are, rather than striving to be a certain way. This approach ensures that the practise is not only beneficial for physical health but also nurtures our overall well-being.
Donna Negus firmly believes that we are more than just physical shapes, and her teaching style is rooted in the concept of moving without force and connecting with the body's innate intelligence through movement. Each individual is unique and has their own capabilities, and yoga can help nurture health regardless of age or experience.
In her classes, Donna emphasises the importance of being present in the moment and cultivating awareness of our breath, body, thoughts, and emotions in a non-judgmental way. This mindful approach to yoga allows practitioners to develop a deeper understanding of themselves and their bodies, promoting a sense of harmony and balance in their lives.
Donna's yoga practise and teaching have been heavily influenced by Vanda Scaravelli's approach. In 2003, Donna had the opportunity to study with Diane Long and Sophy Hoare, who were students of Scaravelli. It was through their teachings that Donna discovered a new way of moving that tapped into the strength within and brought about a less fragmented body. She continues to study with Sophy and Diane on a regular basis, deepening her understanding and refining her teaching skills.
In addition to her expertise in yoga, Donna is also trained in Mindfulness meditation. She has been practising Mindfulness since 2013 and is a qualified teacher in both Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) and mindfulness and compassion. The integration of mindfulness practises into her teaching has allowed for new dimensions to unfold, enhancing the overall experience for her students.
Donna completed her yoga teacher training through the prestigious British Wheel of Yoga in 2006 and has been teaching ever since. She is also a Foundation Course Tutor, facilitating the growth and development of aspiring yoga teachers.
