In the early days, club members travelled to races using a brake, which was a horse and carriage. However, the club's first taste of victory came in 1909 when Bob Kerr, one of the club's athletes, triumphed in the Ulster Senior Cross Country Championship. This victory set the stage for the club's future achievements and solidified its reputation as a force to be reckoned with in the athletic community.
