Partners or groups, supporting each other and building a sense of community within the studio.
The Elms Yoga studio is located in Aldershot, providing a friendly and inviting space for individuals of all ages and abilities to practise yoga. The owner and teacher, Sue, offers a grounded and authentic approach to teaching, ensuring that every student feels comfortable and supported throughout their practise.
With small class sizes, Sue focuses on creating an inclusive environment where everyone's needs are met. The pace of the class is adjusted to accommodate different abilities, allowing each student to progress at their own pace. Sue's teaching goes beyond increasing strength and fitness; she also emphasises the importance of easing tension and anxiety, building confidence, and cultivating a calmer mind.
One unique aspect of Elms Yoga is its focus on supporting individuals with Long Covid. Sue herself has experienced the long-term implications of Covid and has developed a deep understanding of how to balance yoga practise with limitations on energy and strength. If you are dealing with the effects of Covid, Sue can work with you to modify poses and explore breathing techniques to support your practise.
The philosophy behind yoga at Elms Yoga is centred around connecting the mind, body, and breath. Sue's teaching style is gentle and slow, with an emphasis on the journey to a posture rather than achieving a specific pose. By giving time and space to undo tension and stress in the body, students can refocus their attention on the interconnectedness within their whole body.
Elms Yoga recently opened a new garden studio for classes and individual sessions. With a maximum of 8 people per class, Sue is able to provide personal attention and ensure that everyone feels supported and heard. She combines a creative and adaptive teaching style to tailor sessions to fit the needs of each individual or class.
With a background in physiotherapy, Sue brings a deep understanding of the body's mechanics, allowing her to guide students with injuries or specific issues in a safe and supportive manner. In addition to the physical benefits, Elms Yoga also cultivates a sense of community and connexion. Students often work in partners or groups, supporting and encouraging each other throughout their yoga journey.
Whether you're a beginner or an experienced practitioner, Elms Yoga offers a welcoming space to explore and deepen your yoga practise. Come and experience the benefits of yoga in a fun, inclusive, and supportive environment.
