Horse was a chestnut mare named Ladybird. Elsie's father, George Jones, was a successful carriage driver in the 1800s. Elsie continued the family tradition of horsemanship and bred and trained horses on Franklands Farm.
In the 1940s, Elsie Bedford-Jones held horse shows at Franklands Farm, attracting competitors from all over Ontario. These shows quickly became known for their high level of competition and sportsmanship. Over the years, Franklands Farm has hosted countless equestrian events and has been a hub for the equestrian community in Brockville and beyond.
Today, Franklands Farm is home to Gina Smith and her business, Franklands Equine Services. Gina is a highly acclaimed dressage rider who has represented Canada in numerous international competitions. She offers training for both horses and riders, as well as clinics throughout North America.
