Were mandatory. We cleaned the dojo daily and in return, the dojo provided us with a place to sleep and meals on weekends. It was intense, but the training was incredible, and the community was like a family.
After completing the Kenshusei program in 2004, I returned to Vancouver Island and began teaching at Pacific Coast Aikikai with Daniel Kempling. In 2008, I founded Goldstream Aikikai in Langford, BC to continue sharing my love and passion for Aikido with others. My goal is to create a welcoming and supportive environment where students can learn and grow in their practice of Aikido.
At Goldstream Aikikai, we focus on the traditional teachings of Aikido, rooted in the principles of harmony, blending, and non-resistance. Through the practice of Aikido techniques, students learn how to redirect and neutralize aggression without causing harm to themselves or others. Aikido is not just a martial art it is a way of life that promotes self-improvement, self-awareness, and personal growth.
I am proud to be part of the Birankai North America organization, which is affiliated with the Aikikai Hombu Dojo in Japan. Our ranks are recognized worldwide, and we strive to uphold the high standards set by our founder, T. K. Chiba Shihan.
Whether you are a beginner or an experienced practitioner, there is a place for you at Goldstream Aikikai. Come join us and experience the transformative power of Aikido for yourself.
