Range of fitness levels among our members at Grappling-Lab BJJ Club in Howick, Auckland. We believe that Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is for everyone, regardless of fitness level or age. Whether you are a seasoned athlete or a complete beginner, our experienced instructors will guide you through the training sessions and help you progress at your own pace.
Located in the basement of the Howick Bridge Club, our family gym is open to individuals of all ages and skill levels. We prioritise the traditional values and aspects of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, encouraging a respectful and inclusive environment for all members. As a member of the FIT Sid Jacintho team in New Zealand and part of the BJJ FIT Association, we uphold the highest standards of teaching and training.

BJJ, also known as “The Gentle Art | The Game of Human Chess,” is a grappling martial art that emphasises ground fighting without striking techniques. It originates from traditional Japanese Jiu-Jitsu and Judo. In BJJ, techniques rely on concepts such as base, posture, structure, leverage, framing, and control of momentum. Our instructors will teach you these core concepts and provide concrete examples to help you progress efficiently.
Beyond the physical aspect, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu offers numerous benefits for personal growth and mindset adjustment. It teaches you to adapt and adjust to problems rather than avoiding them, promoting a more positive and fulfilling life. At Grappling-Lab BJJ Club, we believe in preserving the integrity and essence of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Professor Hasan, a first-degree Black Belt under master Sid Jacintho, ensures that our teaching remains authentic and true to the art's origins.
