Welcome to Greatham Equestrian Centre, a small and friendly family-run riding school and livery yard located near Petersfield in the stunning South Downs National Park. With our East Hampshire District Council Riding Establishment Licence and a five-star rating valid until 2025, you can trust that your experience with us will be safe and enjoyable.

At Greatham Equestrian Centre, we cater to riders of all ages and skill levels, from complete beginners to those with a lifetime of experience. Unfortunately, we are unable to accommodate adult beginners at this time. Our team of experienced and well-schooled horses and ponies ensures that we can find the perfect match for every rider, from cobs to connemaras, shetlands to warmbloods.

In order to ensure the safety and well-being of our riders and horses, we have set an upper weight limit of 13 1/2 stone for flatwork and hacking, and 12 1/2 stone for jumping. These weight limits include riding hats and body protectors. Additionally, each horse and pony has an individual weight limit applied to them. All new riders are required to weigh themselves on our scales in private before riding commences, and regular riders will also be required to do so at various points throughout the year.

We offer a range of lesson options, including semi-private or group lessons, as well as various activities for both children and adults during term time, school holidays, weekends, and evenings. In addition to our lessons, we have access to superb hacking in the South Downs National Park, as well as direct access onto The Shipwrights Way from our yard entrance.

Our facilities are top-notch, with a floodlit 30m × 40m rubber-surfaced menage equipped with a full set of Jump 4 Joy show jumps, as well as 40m × 20m dressage boards and a covered viewing gallery. We also have a cross-country course, jumping paddock, and a full set of rustic working hunter jumps. We welcome viewings of our yard and facilities which can be arranged through contacting us.

At Greatham Equestrian Centre, we take great pride in our achievements. Our Pony Club recently made history by becoming the first Pony Club Centre to win the Regional Team Show Jumping Championship. We regularly participate in shows and events, and our gallery showcases some of our memorable moments.
