Green Plum Tai Chi

Welcome to Green Plum Tai Chi, located in Grey, Palmerston Northern Territory. Green Plum Tai Chi Chuan teaches Wu Style Tai Chi, which includes two styles: the Square Form and the Round Form.

The Square Form focuses on learning and teaching by breaking down each form or technique into simplified elements. This makes it easy for students to follow and understand how their body and mind work together in Tai Chi Chuan movement.

In contrast, the Round Form teaches Wu Style Tai Chi Chuan through smooth, flowing, and spiralling movements. This style emphasises the connexion between different parts of the body, with internal energy (“ch'i”) flowing from the feet to the arms and fingertips.

At Green Plum Tai Chi, the Square Form and the Round Form are both demonstrated to give students a comprehensive understanding of Wu Style Tai Chi Chuan. The school prides itself on maintaining the integrity of the teaching methods, ensuring consistency in forms taught by different instructors.

Wu Style Tai Chi Chuan is the foundation style of The Hong Kong Tai Chi Association, which was established by the Hong Kong Government in collaboration with Sifu Cheng Tin Hung. This association aims to provide high-standard Tai Chi Chuan teachers for the Hong Kong community. Other styles, such as Yang, Chen, and Hao, are now also part of the Hong Kong Tai Chi Association.

Sifu Cheng Tin Hung, an influential figure in the Wu Style Tai Chi Chuan community, taught the founder of the Hong Kong Tai Chi Association, Cheng Wing Kwong, and Qi Min Xuan. Green Plum Tai Chi's teacher, Sifu Edward Ho, was a student of Cheng Tin Hung. Sifu Edward, a former champion in Open Martial Arts competitions in France, is now the Vice President of the Hong Kong Tai Chi Association and oversees the quality of teaching in the association.

Classes at Green Plum Tai Chi are held on Saturdays from 8:30 am to 10 am at Grey Primary School, with Monday classes from 6 pm to 7 pm-ish. Loose and comfortable clothing, as well as flat-soled shoes, are recommended for students. The class fee is $20 for employed individuals and $10 for unemployed individuals, payable in cash.
