About
Halifax Rowing Club (HRC) is located on the picturesque Northwest Arm in Halifax, Nova Scotia. As Atlantic Canada's largest rowing club, HRC offers a range of programs for adults and juniors looking to learn to row. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced rower, HRC has something for everyone.
The club's experienced coaches provide comprehensive learn-to-row classes, covering boat handling, rowing commands, basic rowing technique, and boat safety. No experience is required to join a class, and the friendly and supportive atmosphere at HRC ensures that members quickly feel comfortable on the water.
HRC offers a variety of programs, including adult and junior programs, punch card passes, and learn-to-row sessions starting at $275. Once you've completed your learn-to-row class, you can continue rowing for the remainder of the season. The club also has a long history in Halifax, with rowing races being held on the Northwest Arm, the Harbour, and the Bedford Basin in the late 1800s and early 1900s.
Visitors are always welcome at Halifax Rowing Club, but for safety reasons, a coach must assign boat seating or practice times to visitors. Additionally, donations of more than $20 made to the National Sports Trust Fund Project HRC Equipment Fund are tax-deductible and used to purchase new rowing shells, oars, and coach boats and motors.
Join Halifax Rowing Club and experience the joy of rowing on the beautiful Northwest Arm. Register for a learn-to-row class today and become a part of this enduring and proud tradition in Halifax and Nova Scotia.
