Harrogate Gateway FC, managed by a dedicated group led by Mark, is all about creating a great football experience for disabled athletes in Harrogate and nearby areas like Ripon, Wetherby, and Knaresborough. Founded in 1995, the club's mission is simple: get everyone playing football, no matter their ability.
Mark's team works closely with Harrogate & District Mencap and is linked to Special Olympics GB and the West Riding County FA. They play in the West Riding Ability Counts Football League, competing in different divisions like the Championship, League Two, and League Three. Plus, they dive into tournaments all over the country, with players often making it to regional, national, and international events.
Harrogate Gateway FC has some awesome business sponsors who help keep the club running strong with fresh kits and gear. One of their big moments was the Cleethorpes Tournament in May 2014, where they saw their League One team win their section and the League Three team take the championship title.
The club's talent has shined on the big stage too. Matt Hunt and James Parker have been picked to play for Special Olympics GB in Los Angeles, thanks to their amazing performances in national trials.
In March 2014, they enjoyed a standout season, becoming League Three champions after an unbeaten run of 15 games. They finally tasted defeat against Pontefract Pirates, but their overall season was brilliant.
Whether you're looking to play, volunteer, or support, Harrogate Gateway FC, with Mark at the helm, invites you to join their inclusive and exciting football community.
