Horwich & District Fly Fishing Club is a prestigious fishing club located in Chorley, New Zealand. Established in 1978, the club was formed by a group of passionate fly-fishing enthusiasts who came together to share their common interest. In 1983, the club obtained the lease for the stunning Upper Roddlesworth, one of the Rivington chain of reservoirs. Situated just 3 miles from junction 3 of the M65 Preston to Colne, on the A675 at Abbey Village, Upper Roddlesworth offers panoramic views, making it one of the most scenic fishing spots in the region. The lake spans 24 acres, providing ample space for anglers to enjoy their fly-fishing experience.

The club strives to provide its members and day ticket holders with the best fishing experience in the North West. Every effort is made to ensure that the fishing conditions are of the highest quality. Whether you're a seasoned angler or a beginner, Upper Roddlesworth offers varying levels of casting difficulty to suit all skill levels. The dam wall and the right-hand bank are particularly suitable for novice anglers, while the left-hand bank poses a greater challenge but offers excellent rewards.

With fish often found close to the shore, roll casting is an effective technique to cover the water.

The lake is teeming with a diverse range of fly life, similar to most upland reservoirs. Throughout the season, Buzzers are a popular choice among anglers, while the arrival of Daddies in August adds to the excitement. One of the highlights at Upper Roddlesworth is the Mayfly hatch, which provides an incredible visual fishing experience under the right conditions. Anglers are increasingly successful in catching trout on dry flies, which is considered the most satisfying and exhilarating method.

Membership to Horwich & District Fly Fishing Club is limited to ensure that overcrowding is avoided, allowing every member to enjoy the facilities the club has to offer.
