Ice Sports Southland

Ice Sports Southland is an ice skating rink located in the heart of Gore, Southland. As the only ice skating rink in the region, it holds a special place in the community and offers a wide range of activities and programmes for people of all ages and skill levels.

Home to the Gore Grizzlies, a homegrown ice hockey team, Ice Sports Southland boasts a long and proud history of champion figure skaters, as well as social and competitive curling. Public sessions are held most weekends and during school holidays, providing a fun outing for the whole family and friends. These sessions are open to the public, and no prior booking is necessary. Just show up at the Multisports Complex and pay at the reception. The price of admission includes skate hire, making it convenient for those who do not have their own skates.

For those interested in honing their skating skills, Ice Sports Southland offers Kiwiskate lessons, designed to help children become confident skaters from a young age. Cubs Ice Hockey learners can start as young as 3, and the rink provides an assortment of skating aids, such as seals and penguins, to make the learning experience more enjoyable.

The rink also hosts a variety of activities throughout the week, including figure skating, learn-to-skate programmes, ice hockey, curling, and private ice skating bookings. From recreational skaters to competitive athletes, there is something for everyone at Ice Sports Southland.
