IKK Canterbury Karate and Martial Arts Club, located in Canterbury, New Zealand, is proud to be the first International Karate Kyokushinkai club in the area. Established in 1996 by Kancho Paul Sarginson, the IKK organisation has flourished, with the Canterbury club being its flagship branch. Situated in a prime location near surrounding villages such as Bridge and Littlebourne, the club is easily accessible to students from various areas.
The experienced and dedicated team of instructors at IKK Canterbury Karate and Martial Arts Club includes Kancho Paul, Shihan Russell, Shihan Amy, Senpai John, Senpai Brendon, and Senpai Nicoletta. The club offers two classes per week to cater to different levels and age groups. The Thursday evening class takes place at the Barton Manor School's dance studio, which boasts modern facilities, changing rooms, and ample parking. On Sunday mornings, the club gathers at the Canterbury College Sports Hall, which features a wooden floor and a storage area.
This location is conveniently situated outside the town centre and provides its own car park for ease of access.
Both classes at IKK Canterbury Karate and Martial Arts Club offer students an excellent workout. The instructors prioritise teaching proper techniques and ensure that students are physically prepared for their gradings. The club offers classes for different age groups and levels of experience. The Junior Class, designed for children aged 5 to 10, takes place on Thursday evenings from 6pm to 7pm. Following this, the Older Children, Teens, and Adults class runs from 7pm to 8:30pm. On Sundays, there is an all-ages class that welcomes both children and adults from 5 years old onwards, from 9am to 10/10:30am.
To join IKK Canterbury Karate and Martial Arts Club, interested individuals can choose from various payment options. For children, the monthly fee is 39 for one class per week, or 60 for two classes per week. Adults pay 45 for one class per week or 70 for two classes per week. Payments are made through bank transfer, and advanced booking is required.
Trial classes are available for newcomers who wish to try out a class before committing to a full month. These trial classes cost 10 for children and 15 for adults.
