Itosu-Kai drop-in is a traditional martial arts school located in Etobicoke, Toronto, offering classes in Karate and Kobudo. Affiliated with the Itosu-Ryu Karatedo International Federation (IKIF) and the All Japan Kobudo Association, the school is dedicated to teaching the ancient and honorable art forms of Japanese-Okinawan Karate and Kobudo.
Karate, which means "empty hand," emphasizes the practitioner's ability to defend themselves without weapons. Students at Itosu-Kai drop-in begin each class with "mokuso," a meditative moment to clear the mind and prepare for instruction. The school believes in training the spirit, mind, and body, encouraging students to work hard and remain dedicated to the art.
