Jitsuei Kai Karate-Do, a local karate club based in Christchurch, is excited to invite you to their upcoming karate event. This fantastic club is dedicated to the art of Goju-Ryu Karate and provides a friendly and supportive atmosphere for people of all ages to thrive in. Their main focus is on participation, with the aim of self-improvement and enjoyment.
One of the highlights of Jitsuei Kai Karate-Do is their impressive track record in competitions. In 2018 alone, they produced 18 medallists at both the New Zealand Open and National events. What’s truly remarkable is that many of these talented individuals were under the age of sixteen.
Founded in 1980 by the incredibly respected instructor, Pat McGregor Shihan, the club has continued to flourish under the guidance of experienced black belt leaders since Pat Shihan’s passing in 2015. These senseis have not only achieved national and international recognition as athletes, coaches, and judges, but they are also passionate about passing on their wealth of knowledge and experience to their students.
The club takes great pride in being an integral part of the wider karate community. They encourage anyone interested in experiencing the art of karate to give it a try. At Jitsuei Kai Karate-Do, you will find a team of highly skilled senseis, each with their own unique journey in martial arts.
First, we have Dean Wiseman, a 7th Dan Black Belt with a wealth of experience since joining Jitsuei Kai in 1985. Dean has competed and trained in various countries, and he now shares his expertise by coaching and training students at the club.
Next, we have George Glausiuss, a 6th Dan Black Belt who started his karate journey in the mid-eighties. George has been involved in coaching, judging, and refereeing, and he believes in the practical application of karate in real-life situations.
