Karate Christchurch, located in various dojos around the city, offers a comprehensive range of karate classes for both kids and adults. The school firmly believes that karate is a holistic discipline that anyone, regardless of age or ability, can benefit from.
The instructors at Karate Christchurch are all highly experienced and accomplished individuals, having received national and international recognition as athletes, coaches, and judges. They are passionate about sharing their knowledge and experience with their students, supporting them to achieve their personal goals in the art of Goju-Ryu Karate.
With a strong membership of both junior and senior students, ranging from the novice White Belt (10th kyu) to the experienced Black Belt (Shodan Ho) and beyond, Karate Christchurch strives to create a supportive and inclusive learning environment for all. In addition to regular training sessions, Karate Christchurch encourages students to participate in regional, national, and international competitions to further enhance their skills and experiences. Jitsuei Kai Karate Do has been a prominent presence in Christchurch since its establishment in 1980 by Pat McGregor Shihan. Pat McGregor was a highly esteemed instructor, reaching the level of 7th Dan in Jitsuei Kai, JKF Goju Kai, and Karate NZ. After his passing in December 2015, the club is now led by a team of highly skilled black belts who trained under his guidance for many years.
