Discovering the teachings of Ramana Maharshi, a renowned spiritual teacher, and his practise of self-inquiry. Self-inquiry is a direct method for self-revelation and understanding our true nature. It involves questioning the sense of self and investigating the source of our thoughts and beliefs.

At Kalyan Yoga, Adam, and Sabina offer weekly hatha yoga classes and community meditation/mindfulness classes in Totnes. These classes are designed to be accessible to all, with a sliding scale payment option or donation-based pricing for the Time to Breathe class. Their intention is to make yoga and meditation affordable and available to the Totnes community.

The style of hatha yoga they practise is called Hridaya Hatha Yoga, which is a contemplative form of classical hatha yoga. In this style, the asanas (postures) are practised with the eyes closed, allowing for a deeper connexion with the subtle aspects of one's being, such as the energy centres (chakras) and the true essence of self. The longer hold times in the asanas create a meditative experience and help practitioners to find a state of dynamic stillness.

Meditation is an integral part of Kalyan Yoga's offerings, rooted in the self-inquiry practise inspired by Ramana Maharshi. They also offer meditation workshops and retreats throughout the UK, providing an opportunity for individuals to deepen their understanding of these teachings and traditions.

Adam and Sabina are both YTT 600+ trained yoga and meditation teachers, bringing a wealth of knowledge and experience to their classes. Their passion for yoga and meditation shines through in their teaching, creating a supportive and inclusive space for practitioners of all levels.

They believe that yoga is not just a physical practise but a path to self-realisation and union with all of existence. Through regular practise and direct experience, they invite students to explore the profound teachings of yoga and discover their own essential nature. Their hope is to inspire others to embark on a journey of self-discovery and transformation through the practises of meditation and hatha yoga.
