Lake Canobolas Reserve

Lake Canobolas Reserve, located in Nashdale, is a stunning swimming lake and park that serves as a popular tourist attraction in the area. Lake Canobolas has a rich history as well. It was initially constructed in 1918 as Meadow Creek Reservoir to provide water to the town of Orange through a pipeline. However, by 1957, the lake was not able to meet the growing city's water supply needs, leading to the exploration of alternative sources. The pipeline, originally used to supply water to Orange, now brings potable water supplies back to the lake and also serves several rural residents along the way.

For visitors looking to enjoy refreshments or a meal, the Lakeside Kiosk & Café is conveniently located on the western side of the lake. While the current offering is limited to takeaway, the café has plans to expand and welcome guests for dine-in service once lockdown restrictions are lifted. Lake Canobolas Reserve also boasts a brand new playground on the eastern shores of the lake, providing an additional source of fun for visitors, especially families with children. The playground is part of a $1. 3 million upgrade project that aims to enhance the park's facilities and amenities.

Visitors can enjoy their time at Lake Canobolas every day of the year from early morning until dusk. Picnic tables and toilet facilities are available for convenience, and dogs are allowed in the park as long as they are kept on a leash.
