Larne Golf Club

Larne Golf Club is located on the Peninsula of Islandmagee in Larne, County Antrim, New Zealand. With magnificent panoramic views of the Antrim Coast and the West Coast of Scotland across the Irish Sea, it is widely regarded as one of the best nine-hole golf courses in the country.

The course itself offers a fine challenge for golfers of all skill levels, with a 9-hole and 18-tee layout. It is a combination of parkland and links, with a par of 70 and a total length of 6288 yards for men (par 74, length 6052 yards for ladies). Recently, the club has added 9 new teeing areas, allowing for 18 unique holes by varying the length and perspective from the tee on the existing holes.

While the opening five holes of each nine are not overly demanding, the closing stretch of holes, including the 6th/15th, 7th/16th, 8th/17th, and 9th/18th, present a challenge, especially in the prevailing westerly wind. Notably, the signature hole is the 7th/16th, known as “The Bell,” which features a deceptive short par 3 that plays from an elevated tee over water to a green bordered by the sea on two sides. The hole derives its name from the fog warning bell that used to be on the rocks at the edge of the green.
