Welcome to Laura Lane Pilates Therapy, a specialised Pilates studio located in Christchurch, New Zealand. Our studio offers a range of services including Reformer Pilates, Pilates Therapy, Hypopressives, ScarWork, and Golf Somatic Experiencing.
In our Pilates classes, we offer matwork group classes that focus on the 8 basic principles of Pilates, including relaxation, concentration, centring, alignment, breathing, stamina, and flowing movement. Our Pilates therapists have a deep understanding of Pilates and also possess training in objective body screening and assessment techniques, similar to other healthcare professions such as physiotherapy and osteopathy. This allows us to not only improve movement through Pilates exercises, but also utilise techniques such as nerve glides, neurodynamics, trigger point therapy, massage, muscle energy techniques, and Kinesio taping to enhance the overall movement experience. Our Pilates teachers adhere to a strict Code of Practise, ensuring high teaching standards, professional ethics, and ongoing education.
If you're looking for a more personalised experience, we also offer Reformer Pilates sessions in our private studio. These sessions can be booked as a one-on-one session or as a duo, where you and a friend or partner can enjoy the benefits of Reformer Pilates together. We have a 48-hour cancellation policy in place to ensure that your sessions are scheduled appropriately.
In addition to our Pilates classes, we also offer specialised therapies such as Hypopressives and ScarWork. Hypopressives are exercises that aim to decrease internal pressure in the thoracic, abdominal, and pelvic areas of the body. They help re-programme core muscles, improve symptoms of incontinence and pelvic organ prolapse, restore sexual function, reduce back pain, improve posture, reduce waist size, increase abdominal and pelvic floor function, and boost metabolism. A dedicated commitment of 15 minutes per day for 30 days is recommended for effective results.
ScarWork is a gentle manual touch therapy developed by Sharon Wheeler over the last 4 decades. It focuses on improving functionality and reducing pain after surgery or trauma that has created scar tissue, adhesions, or fibrosis. ScarWork is performed within the client's comfort levels and discomfort is rare. Incremental changes can be noticed after each session, and sessions are usually spaced 1–4 weeks apart depending on the age and presentation of the scar.
At Laura Lane Pilates Therapy, we prioritise your well-being and aim to provide a holistic approach to enhance your physical and emotional health. If you're interested in any of our services or would like more information, please get in touch with us through phone or email. We look forward to welcoming you into our studio.
