Leahs Dance Academy

Leah's Dance Academy, located in Nottingham, is a family-run dance school that has been in operation for over 23 years. Founded by Leah Yates in April 2000, originally as Step-in-Time Dance School, the academy has a strong sense of community and family away from home. All coaching staff at Leah's Dance Academy have been trained by Leah herself, starting out as students of the academy. The coaches continue to further their knowledge and qualifications as part of their personal development.

Leah's Dance Academy takes the wellbeing and safety of its students very seriously. All coaching staff are First Aid Trained, hold Safeguarding and Health & Safety certifications, and have fully enhanced DBS checks. These certificates are prominently displayed in the studio and can be viewed at any time. Additionally, all coaches are fully insured.

The academy follows the IDTA (International Dance Teacher Association) grade Syllabus for various dance genres including Ballet, Tap, Freestyle, Rock 'n' Roll, Slow & Acro. For Ballroom & Latin, they follow the NDTA (National Dance Teachers Association) syllabus. Leah's Dance Academy is also an active member of the ADFP (Association of Dance for Freestyle Professionals) and adheres to the IASF Rules for Cheerleading.

In addition to dance classes, Leah's Dance Academy offers studio rental opportunities for qualified teachers and professionals who offer services that complement the genres already provided by the academy.

Leah's Dance Academy has a diverse and comprehensive timetable that caters to students of all ages and levels. Some classes offered include Ballet Bums, a fitness class for adults with no prior experience in ballet; Star Makers, a singing, dancing, and acting session for primary school-aged children; and Junior Cheerleading, a class that incorporates stunting, tumbling, dance, and chants suitable for school children up to year 6.

The academy also offers classes in Ballroom & Latin, Freestyle, Advanced Ballet & Pointe, Musical Theatre, and Acrobatics, among others. The timetable includes classes for beginners as well as advanced dancers, ensuring that there is something for everyone.
