Learn To Ride Centre

The “Learn To Ride Centre” in Belconnen is a cycling park that offers a safe and controlled environment for children from preschool to year 4 to learn how to ride bicycles and scooters. It is open to families, schools, and community groups and aims to educate children about road safety and develop practical riding skills.

The centre provides a realistic road environment, complete with footpaths, roundabouts, pedestrian crossings, line markings, and road signs. This allows children to experience and understand the rules of the road in a controlled setting. Information boards are placed around the facility to further educate children and their parents about road safety when riding and walking.

Located at Lake Ginninderra District Park, near the car park off MacDermott Place in Belconnen, the Learn To Ride Centre is easily accessible. Children are required to bring their own bike and/or scooter, as well as a helmet, to participate in the practical activities aimed at building riding skills. They must be supervised by a parent, guardian, or carer throughout their visit.

The centre caters to children of all skill levels and needs, including those requiring additional support. It offers onsite parking, visitor seating for parents and guardians, and has recreational facilities nearby for families to enjoy. Public toilets are also conveniently located within a 5-minute walk from the centre.

The Learn To Ride Centre is open 7 days a week for daytime use only. No bookings are required, allowing for flexibility in scheduling visits. As an inclusive space, the centre acknowledges the Ngunnawal people as the traditional custodians of the ACT, while also recognising and honouring any other people or families with connexions to the lands of Belconnen.
