Napier City Rovers Football Club, founded on the 6th of February 1973, is the result of an amalgamation between Napier Rovers AFC and Napier City AFC. Since its inception, the club has shown tremendous growth and success. It boasts a proud history of producing players who have gone on to represent New Zealand in the All Whites and NZ Under 23s, earning full international honours.
The club takes pride in its remarkable football grounds, which are widely regarded as one of the most enviable in the country. Through consistent league and cup victories, Napier City Rovers has been able to attract top players from across New Zealand and even overseas. Simultaneously, the club also focuses on nurturing local talent, ensuring a strong presence of local players in the team.
Napier City Rovers has an outstanding record of major honours, including being crowned National Champions in 1989, 1993, 1998, and 2000. Additionally, the club has achieved success in the Chatham Cup, winning the prestigious trophy in 1985, 1993, 2000, 2002, and 2019. In recent years, Napier City Rovers has also dominated the Central League, clinching the title in 2012, 2015, and 2018. Moreover, the club has represented New Zealand in OFC competitions, earning a remarkable third-place finish in the 2000-2001 tournament after defeating AS Venus 3-2.
