New Brighton Olympic Athletics, the friendly running club based in Christchurch, invites all interested players to join us for an exciting Athletics event. Our members come from various parts of the city, ranging from Springsteen to Rangiora, and we welcome runners of all abilities, whether you're a beginner or a seasoned track and field or ultra marathoner.
Our club caters to individuals of all ages, from 7 to 70 plus, who enjoy the thrill of running, jumping, and throwing. We have two sections, Cross Country and Track & Field, which provide opportunities for both adults and children to participate throughout the year. Our Clubrooms at Rawhiti Domain, located off Keyes Rd, offer excellent facilities such as a meeting room, kitchen, toilets, and a small indoor gym.
One of our greatest assets is our full-size track and field facilities. After the earthquakes, Canterbury Athletics made use of these facilities every Saturday while waiting for Nga Puna Wai to be built, showcasing the quality of our facilities. During the children's summer training, these facilities are used extensively. In winter, training groups operate from various locations across the city.
New Brighton Olympic actively participates in races of all distances, locally and nationwide. While there is no pressure to compete, there's nothing more motivating than crossing the finish line with your club mates cheering you on, unless, of course, you manage to outrun them!
On Saturdays, when we don't have interclub events, we organise Club runs from different venues. This allows our members to select the races and relays they wish to participate in. As a club, we love supporting relay events and encourage our members to get involved.
Join us for a memorable Athletics event organised by New Brighton Olympic Athletic Club. Whether you're a competitive runner looking for a challenge or someone who simply enjoys the camaraderie of a supportive club, we welcome you with open arms. Lace up your running shoes and come be a part of our exciting athletic community!
