New Bird Skatepark, located in a disused lot at the corner of New Bird Street and Jamaica Street in Liverpool, is a DIY concrete skatepark that has been built and maintained by local skaters since 2010. Despite facing adversity from the local council's attempt to sell the land, the skaters successfully fought to keep the skatepark in its current location.
Central to the Liverpool skate scene, New Bird Skatepark offers a variety of features to cater to different skating styles. The park includes bowled corners, pump bumps, flat banks, hips, and grind bars. For those who prefer transition-based skating, there are open-sided bowls available. Additionally, the park offers ample potential for wallrides.
While the ground at New Bird Skatepark may not be as smooth as professionally built parks, this can be overlooked due to the remarkable effort put in by local skating enthusiasts to create a space for the skating community. Whether skaters are looking to practise the basics or have a session with friends, New Bird Skatepark provides a great local spot to do so.
New Bird Skatepark is always open for skaters to enjoy and is located at Jamaica Street in Liverpool's Merseyside region. Visitors can easily find the skatepark by following directions from Liverpool Central station or arriving at Greenland Street by bus.
Although there are no on-site toilets at the skatepark, free facilities can be found nearby. The Skateparks Project, an organisation focused on building and supporting skateparks, offers free impartial advice and resources for councils and communities interested in developing skateparks. They also maintain the UK's largest directory of skateparks.
