The Noosa Triathletes Club, a local Triathlon club in Sunshine Coast, is excited to promote the Noosa Tri Club Holiday Training Camp, a fantastic event that offers participants the chance to immerse themselves in a wide range of triathlon training. Whether you're a seasoned athlete or just starting out, this camp is designed to cater to all skill levels.
The camp is divided into three squads, ensuring that every age group is catered for. The Kids Squad, aimed at 7-12 year olds, focuses on fun, enjoyment, and basic skills. The Youth Squad, for 13-15 year olds, offers advanced skills, technique refinement, strength development, and a deepening interest in the sport. Finally, the Junior Squad, for those aged 16 and older, concentrates on technique and training specifically geared towards competition.
Our training camp takes place at the Giraween Sports Complex and offers a one-day free trial every Saturday at 7am. If you're interested in joining, you can download the latest program from Joe's website for more details. Please note that the schedule is subject to change as we continually adapt to the needs and progression of each squad. Swimming sessions are conducted through the Learn to Swim program at the NAC, with days subject to availability. In addition, the Platinum Squad has a Monday afternoon swim at the NAC, also subject to availability.
Registration fees for the camp are $130 per month for the Kids Squad and $200 per month for the Youth and Junior Squads. Private lessons are also available for $60. Before joining the camp, athletes must have a Triathlon Australia membership. We recommend the Standard membership for those looking for consistent training and racing. It's important to link your membership to the Noosa Tri Club. If you're unsure whether triathlon is right for your child, Triathlon Australia offers a “Try Before You Buy” option, allowing them to participate for eight weeks at $20 (insurance costs for racing are not included in this package). A One Day Membership is required for racing.
The camp is led by Coach Joe Fernandes, a seasoned triathlete with 14 years of experience in the sport. Joe was crowned the ITU 30-34 Age Group Sprint World Champion and has achieved podium finishes in Sprint, Olympic, and 70.3 distances. With his extensive background as a triathlon assistant coach and swim instructor, working with athletes of varying distances, Joe relocated to Australia in 2016 to pursue a master's degree in Sports Management and Project Management. He currently works as a learn-to-swim instructor and coach at the Noosa Aquatic Centre. Joe has partnered with the Noosa Tri Club to develop this program aimed at promoting triathlon and increasing participation among kids, youth, and juniors.
Don't miss your chance to be a part of the Noosa Tri Club Holiday Training Camp. It's an excellent opportunity to immerse yourself in triathlon training, regardless of your skill level or age. Join us at the Giraween Sports Complex and start your journey to becoming a triathlon superstar!
