About
A professional race officer brings a level of expertise to the regatta that ensures fair, competitive, and enjoyable races for all participants.
The Oakville Club Open Regatta takes place on Lake Ontario, just south of Oakville's Sixteen Mile Creek, offering stunning views of the water and a fantastic sailing experience. It is known as one of the only true open regattas in the area, welcoming a variety of sailboats including flying sail and non-flying sail boats, as well as one-design boats.
Registration for the regatta must be completed online through the website by a specified deadline, ensuring smooth logistics and organization for the event. The regatta features a mix of windward-leeward courses for PHRF-LO and one-design boats, with the Race Committee setting the handicap split for each fleet. Additionally, a Distance Race is included for boats sailing white sail only, with course length based on the day's conditions and PHRF-LO ratings used for scoring.
For berthing during the regatta, priority is given to boats visiting from clubs outside the Oakville area, with berthing available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Interested participants can reserve a slip by registering for the regatta first and then contacting The Oakville Club's Dock Manager.
The team behind the Oakville Club Open Regatta includes Courtnay Macrae, the Oakville Club Commodore, Alex McMillin, the Regatta Director, and Colleen Gravelle, the PRO. Their combined experience and dedication to the sailing community ensure a well-organized and enjoyable event for all participants. Don't miss out on the opportunity to be a part of this exciting regatta and experience the thrill of sailing on Lake Ontario.
