Total Physiotherapy – Thrive's Osteo-Blast Class is an evidence-based bone health program specifically tailored for individuals with a diagnosis of Osteopaenia or Osteoporosis. This fantastic program, created by our Senior APA Physiotherapist Roisín Whitford, began in August 2022 and has been steadily gaining popularity ever since.
Roisín, who previously worked in the Orthopaedics and Trauma sector in the UK, brings a wealth of experience in early fracture detection and best practice management. Her ultimate aim is to identify individuals at risk of fractures and bone density issues and prevent them from occurring in the first place. With her expertise, you can trust that you'll be in capable hands throughout the program.
In addition to our regular Osteo-Blast Class, we also offer a Saturday Osteo-Blast Mat session, specifically designed for those with Osteopenia or Osteoporosis.
Before joining the bone health program, we highly recommend attending an initial consultation with one of our knowledgeable Physiotherapists. During this consultation, you'll have the opportunity to discuss your bone health history, fracture history, medical history, and any previous falls. If possible, please bring along any DEXA scans (bone density scans) or available x-rays for a comprehensive assessment.
During your initial assessment, our team will conduct balance and strength tests to establish your baseline before entering the program. This will also be the perfect time to address any pre-existing muscle or joint injuries that may need special attention. As part of our commitment to comprehensive care, we will record outcome measures and report them back to your GP for a team-based approach to your health.
To support your journey, we provide every client who enters the program with a digital education pack via email. This pack encompasses a detailed explanation of the condition, pre-disposing factors, nutritional advice, and education on safe lifting and bending techniques. We want to equip you with all the knowledge and tools necessary to embrace a healthier lifestyle and maintain optimal bone health.
Our Osteo-Blast Class is a 45-minute small-group session where you'll join up to 8 participants. This circuit-style exercise class offers a dynamic and engaging workout while focusing on strengthening and improving bone health.
