A note from Jack Daniels, your organiser in Pudsey:
To all the cricket enthusiasts,
Jack Daniels wants to share a bit about Tofts Rd., Pudsey St Lawrence Cricket Club – a cornerstone of Pudsey with roots back to 1845. A hub for local talent, it’s been the starting point for legends like Herbert Sutcliffe and Sir Leonard Hutton.
Jack is really keen to get everyone involved in the sport, no matter your age, ability, gender, or race. From tiny tots aged 5 to the seasoned over 50s, there’s a spot for everyone. And let’s not forget the 1st and 2nd XI teams battling it out in the Bradford cricket league, or the 3rd team playing in the Dales Council league at Fulneck school.
Junior cricket is a biggie for Jack. The All Stars programme kicks off for 5-8-year-olds and then there are age-group teams right up to Under 18s for the boys and Under 15s for the girls. The coaches? They’re all qualified and vetted, ensuring everyone’s in safe hands.
Don’t think it’s all cricket and no play – there’s the “Saints Bar” at the club, perfect for events and good times. Jack makes sure the club’s social calendar is always buzzing with events like Bonfire Night and Christmas bashes. The bar’s stocked with real ales, lagers, ciders, and all your favourite drinks at club prices.
One of Jack’s highlights is watching the young cricketers develop. The Junior Saints programme takes kids from their first cricket experience to playing for the senior teams. Many have even made it to county cricket.
Jack also beams with pride about the girls' and ladies' cricket. As the only club in West Leeds offering girls and ladies-only cricket, they compete in local leagues and bring a lot of energy to the club.
So whether you fancy playing cricket, joining in on the social scene, or need a venue for your next event, Jack Daniels and Pudsey St Lawrence Cricket Club have got you covered. Join in, enjoy the sport, and be part of the cricketing buzz here in Pudsey!
