Karate itself is a Japanese martial art meaning 'empty hand', originating from Okinawa, a small island in East Asia. It was developed as a method of self-protection, but has since evolved into a discipline that encompasses traditional form practise and sporting aspects, regulated by the World Karate Federation. RRKC aims to provide its students with the opportunity to explore the various reasons for practising karate, enabling them to become well-rounded and skilled practitioners.
The name Ren Ry Karate Club represents the club's values and journey. 'Ren' symbolises purity, enlightenment, self-regeneration, and rebirth, similar to the lotus flower in East Asian religions. RRKC encourages its students to cultivate purity of character and embrace mental values like fudoshin (immovable mind) and mushin (empty mind). 'Ry' means school or style, showcasing RRKC's desire to integrate different Karate styles and methods to offer a comprehensive martial arts experience to its members.
Choosing to practise karate at RRKC not only provides opportunities for personal growth and physical fitness but also fosters a sense of community. The club encourages training alongside family members, promoting a supportive environment and helping create lasting bonds. RRKC recognises the numerous benefits that karate brings to individuals and families, including improved discipline, focus, self-confidence, and self-defence skills.
Ren Ry Karate Club – Reigate is committed to providing a safe and welcoming environment wherein students can explore the depths of karate, develop their skills, and achieve their goals. Whether you are a beginner or an experienced practitioner, RRKC welcomes you to be a part of their karate family and discover the transformative power of martial arts.
