The Rob Taylor Jiu-Jitsu Academy, located in Cardiff, is a martial arts school specialising in Jiu-Jitsu. Led by Head Instructor and Academy Owner, Rob Taylor, who is a 6-year Black Belt under Braulio Estima, the academy offers a comprehensive curriculum for both beginners and advanced practitioners.
With over 15 years of training and 9 years of coaching experience, Rob Taylor is a highly decorated competitor, having won numerous championships such as Welsh Champion, English Champion, 5-time British Champion, and European Silver medallist. He oversees the academy's curriculum, which includes classes for competitors, Fundamentals, Gi and No-Gi training, as well as a Kids programme. Private tuition is also available upon request.
Assisting Rob Taylor is Coach Ken Ng, a Purple Belt under Raphael Dos Santos. Ken has been training since 2014 and coaching since 2017. He is an active competitor and has recently earned Gold in the Gi and Silver in No Gi at the Newquay open. Ken mainly delivers the academy's daytime classes and also offers private tuition.
Coach Gareth Penny, a Purple Belt under Rob Taylor, has been training for over 10 years. He was introduced to BJJ in 2008 and has since built a successful MMA career, winning 1 semi-pro and 2 professional fights. Gareth now delivers the academy's morning programme, drawing on his extensive kickboxing and boxing background where he won over 25 senior bouts.
The academy also boasts Coach Soheil, a FILA certified coach and highly decorated competitor, who specialises in coaching the Wrestling class. Soheil was the 4-time Junior National champion of Iran from 1993-97 and represented the Iranian Junior National team at international championships, including finishing 5th at the Greco-Roman World Championship.
